Book Release: The Heart of Marriage
I am happy to be included as a contributor in this gift-worthy book about marriage.
The Heart of Marriage is a compilation that celebrates the adventure of life together. Edited by writer/photographer Dawn Camp, this collection includes inspiring essays written by imperfect people in imperfect marriages.
Contributors include a couple favorite writers of mine. I follow author Shawn Smucker and enjoy his books, his blog and his overall Twitter take on life. Shawn has two stories in “The Heart of Marriage.” My friend and Exodus Road VP, Laura Parker also wrote a gritty and honest post. And I am always glad to be hanging out in similar writing spaces with Laura.
The first book in this series, The Beauty of Grace published by Revell Books released in 2015 and also included one of my essays. My piece for the newest in this series is titled “Tending Hope“. The original version of that essay was first published on this blog. The story describes the growth that came with the pruning of a broken apple tree in my garden, and the similarly broken places in my marriage. It’s a short testament to the pain and beauty of a blooming season. I hope you’ll take a minute to order the book and read the rest!
I love vulnerable real life stories that debunk the myth of perfection. If you do too, I think you’ll enjoy The Heart of Marriage.
As of February 9, The Heart of Marriage may be available at your local Barnes & Noble store. Go to the book’s page, click the “Want it Today? Check Store Availability” link, and enter your zip code. If your store has it, you can even reserve for pick-up.
